Little Farmer Childcare offers fun, reliable and safe childcare for children from 3 month to pre-school. Our service is run by fully qualified staff and is registered through Scottish Care Inspectorate and Scottish Social Services Council. Little Farmer Childcare is also Partnership Linked with Fife Council to provide funded hours for children from 3 years to pre-school.
Our 2 years and under room (follows the Pre-Birth to Three curriculum for Excellence) and our 2 years and over room (follows the pre-school curriculum). All children have a key worker assigned to them when they start and have a Personal Learning Plan which monitors development and progress. We also have parent teacher meetings throughout the year.
We have a country style kitchen for baking, cooking, eating, arts, crafts and messy play.
Keeping parents updated
Parents/carers can see what their Little Farmer(s) are getting up to during the day as we have tablets in the nursery that are updated with photographs and information on what we are doing and what your Little Farmer is eating, sleeping and toileting/nappies throughout the day. This is via our ‘FAMLY’ App.
Healthy Eating & Living
Eating Healthily is also a key feature at Little Farmers (we follow the ‘setting the table’ national guidance for early years) and we encourage all children to eat their 5 portions of fruit and vegetables per day. Fresh fruit, milk and water is provide with morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack and tea. As often as is possible we have the children helping us bake, chop and cook their snacks and meals.
Vegetables accompany our healthy selection of wholesome meals which we cater for ourselves e.g baked potatoes with tuna and cheese, homemade lentil soup and French bread, vegetarian tomato and basil meatballs, quorn mince and spaghetti Bolognese, ratatouille and cous cous. These are just some of our dishes. We have a selection of menus which change seasonally and can be seen on our Parent Notice board or on our ‘FAMLY’ App. We have a self service system for snacks to encourage independence and the children to wash up as well. Learning is fun!
Outdoor Fun
The children are outside as much as possible. We have a grassy garden with swings, slide, sandpit and ride on tractors. We also have a vegetable patch which we try and grow our own fruit, vegetables and flowers from – some years more successfully than other! Also our courtyard garden which leads out from our over 2 year olds playroom and the door is open at all times so the children can have free access to play outside at any time. Our qualified practitioners follow Scotland’s commitment to ‘Getting It Right For Every Child’ and ‘Realising the Ambition’.
We have structured Forest Kindergarten sessions every week and also ad-hoc trips to the woods throughout the week for forest adventures.
